INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY!

Meet the Acorn Woodpecker.  This woodpecker and its family use this dead tree as a granary to store up to 50,000 acorns.  Now that’s investing for the long term.  Keep in mind that the woodpecker has to drill a perfect sized hole for each individual acorn.  Not too big or the acorn would fall out, and not too small or the acorn might be crushed.  In addition, they must be constantly turned and moved to different holes as they dry and shrink.

But this ‘investment’ strategy serves them well, helping them to survive the winter and escape the perils of migration.  In other words, investment for the woodpecker is a matter of life and death.

Certainly, some investment firm has used this Acorn Woodpecker photo to persuade people to invest in their company.  It’s perfect!  They could use this image to convey the idea that investing even a small amount on a regular basis could pay large dividends.  They could say that they will be the ones who manage your investments by moving your money from one place to another, as the woodpecker ‘manages’ its acorns, turning them and moving them to bigger, better fitting holes, promising a greater yield on your investment. What a great ad that would make!

What are you investing in?  Are any of your investments a matter of life and death?  YES!!

Do you realize that God invested big time for us?  He invested His own son!!!  And Jesus was willing to obey His father and invest Himself for us!  WHY?  Paul, in the book of Hebrews says it was, ‘for the joy set before Him!’  Hebrews 12:2. The joy of knowing that His ultimate investment would yield great and eternal dividends!

Do you know that He signed this investment over to you! And you are the investment manager!  What have you or will you do with this investment God has given to you?  Will you accept this gift or reject it?  Will you manage it or ignore it?  Like the Acorn Woodpecker, this investment and its management is a matter of ‘spiritual’ life or death.

‘For God so loved the world that he gave (invested) His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him (and receives this investment) shall not perish but have eternal life.’ John 3:16.

This is why Jesus willingly obeyed His father and died on the cross, so that He could give you eternal life here and now!  So He could restore the relationship that He once had with His creation, YOU.  So He could give you that ‘abundant life’ He promised those who believed in Him.  So He could communicate with you and show you the eternal love He has always had for you!

‘CHOOSE WISELY’.  Accept His GIFT!  Within it is everything your heart desires and so much more!

This devo is dedicated to our dear friend Doris who shared this incredible Acorn Woodpecker photo on Facebook.
