ZYGOTE!!!

A zygote is a human fertilized egg.  It is the largest of human body cells and measures 0.1 millimeters, about the same diameter as a single strand of hair!  Yet within this single cell, which is too small to see, is your DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) which is a microscopic set of instructions containing all the information needed to create an entire human being!                                                  

It contains instructions on how to make a head with eyes which have 7 million cones, 100 million rods and 1 million nerve fibers, eye lids, eyebrows, eyelashes, cheeks, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, chin, ears with 20,000 hairs inside to help us hear, face, lips, hair; a neck, chest, shoulder, arm, forearm, upper arm, elbow, back, waist, buttocks, stomach, hip, hand, fingers, thumb, wrist, thigh, knee, kneecap, shin, calf, ankle, heel, toes, 78 different organs including the heart, pancreas, adrenal, mammary, thymus, pineal, parathyroid, pituitary, bulbourethral, salivary, glands; testes and scrotum or ovaries, fallopian tubes and vulva, anus, hypothalamus, thyroid,  epididymis, appendix, joints, trachea, vas deferens, bladder, kidneys, pharynx, tongue, seminal vesicles, 206 bones, large intestine, ureters, bone marrow, larynx, prostate, urethra, penis or vagina, brain with its 100 billion neurons (This is about the same as the number of stars in the Milky Way galaxy), liver, rectum, uterus (or not), bronchi, lungs with their 600 million alveoli (air sacs) which allow oxygen from the air to pass into your blood, 37 miles of nerves, subcutaneous tissue, diaphragm, lymph nodes, 600 muscles, ligaments, skull, skin where one square inch holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, (melanin-forming cells)and more than 1,000 nerve endings), tendons, arteries, esophagus, mesentery, small intestine, clitoris (or not), veins, spinal cord, capillaries, nasal cavity, spleen, lymphatic vessel, gallbladder, stomach, cerebellum, tonsils, olfactory epithelium, ovary, interstitium ( a contiguous fluid-filled space existing between a structural barrier, such as a cell wall or the skin, and internal structures, such as organs, including muscles and the circulatory system).

It contains instructions on how to make Musculoskeletal, Nervous, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Lymphatic and Immune, Digestive, Urinary, Reproductive, and Endocrine systems in the body.

Look in a mirror.  If you are an average size adult, you are looking at 37.2 trillion cells!!!  All of you created from a single zygote the diameter of one hair.  

The DNA coiled up in this tiny single cell if stretched out is about 5 feet long!  Each cell in your body has the same amount of DNA!  If the DNA from each of these 37.2 trillion cells was put end to end, it would reach to the sun and back 190 times!!!  37.2 trillion times 5 feet divided by 5280 feet (one mile) divided by 93 million miles (the distance to the sun).

So, WHERE DID THIS INFORMATION CONTAINED IN YOUR DNA COME FROM?

Stephen Orla Searfoss, who wrote a book by virtually the same title called this THE question.

It certainly is pivotal, isn’t it?  The Intelligent Design folks at least acknowledge that it was someone with incredible intelligence.  At the end of his book, Stephan makes the most mind- boggling statement.  He says, “We should base our science and our lives on NOT KNOWING the origin of information in DNA!”  Why make it so difficult?  It is not a secret.  God is not past finding out!  In the beginning God….He made mankind in the image and likeness of Himself!  Genesis 1.  King David goes on to say, ‘You (God) created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.’ Psalm 139:13-14. 

God put the info in your DNA.  And what a pleasure it is to know that He did!!!!   

And remember, God made man from the dust of the ground! Genesis 2:7.

Take time to think about the wonder that is a zygote. This miracle is beyond my imagination and without words to describe. To me it is THE most powerful indicator that there is a God. It simply says ‘I AM!’. Thank God you can know His name.
