IT’S TIME FOR A SUPERNATURAL HOME MAKEOVER!

You’ve heard of a hermit crab, those ‘crabs’ that live in other people’s houses, (in borrowed shells). See photo above.

Those clever crabs migrate from one shell to a larger one as they grow.  The shell gives them needed protection since their exoskeleton is rather soft.  Fascinating critters, they can reach 16 inches in length, depending on the species.  Now that’s a large shell need!   Photo by Jan Zikan on Unsplash

The hermit crab started me thinking about what happens to your dwelling place, your body that you live in (your shell) when you hear Jesus knocking on your door and you invite Him in.  Revelation 3:20 Jesus says, ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.’  He will come in.

Think about it.  Before He comes in, you live in an ‘itty bitty living space’ like the genie in Aladdin.  There is only room for one, and it’s (according to scripture) dark and can be very lonely and certainly unprotected.  The view out your window is finite.  Very limited.  You are on your own.

Then Jesus comes in!!!  Talk about a Home Makeover!  First thing He does is give you a new, infinitely larger shell.  The view out the windows is fabulous, infinite!  Now you can see the Kingdom of God! Then He replaces your old water system with ‘living water’!  He installs a lighting system like no other, He is light!  You are no longer lonely because He becomes your friend and sticks ‘closer than a brother’.  He even invites His father and the Holy Spirit to join Him.  He brings comfort…He either replaces your furniture or supernaturally makes your old furniture more comfortable.  And of course, the atmosphere is also comfortable because He is there.  No need for air conditioning or heat.  He even does repairs around the place after all, He is a carpenter!  Talk about a security system!  No need to worry about anything, you are totally protected by His presence!  If you need wisdom, counsel, healing, (you have a live- in doctor) peace, joy, love, faith, companionship, someone to talk to…He is always there for you.

Great fun to think about and true!

Listen to the scriptures!  Before Jesus died, He promised His disciples that He would send His Spirit, the comforter to dwell in them.  ‘And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another comforter (helper, advocate), that He may abide with you forever–the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.’  I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:16-17.  Here comes the Holy Spirit to live with you.

And again, in verse 23, Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”  You are definitely going to need more room because not only is the Holy Spirit going to live with you, but so is Jesus and His Father.  And the view out the window?   Infinite, because now you can ‘see the Kingdom of God!  As Jesus said in John 3:3, ‘no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’  And Jesus comes into your ‘house’ with ‘living water’!  This is what He spoke to the woman at the well, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.’ John 4:10.

And Jesus lights up the whole house because He is light.  He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” ‘John 8:12. (No more darkness in your house!)  He is also a live-in carpenter, Mark 6:3, teacher and doctor!

‘Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.’ Matthew 4:23.

His spirit will bring comfort to your house because He is the comforter.  He will be your advocate and helper as I mentioned before.  God the Father will be your protector, your supernatural security system!!! Psalm 91:1-2.

‘Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’  And for the rest of your days, you will enjoy His presence, His fellowship, His peace and FULNESS OF JOY.  Psalm 16:11. ‘You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.’

Jesus is standing at the door of your ‘house’ knocking.  Open the door and ask Him in!  He will give you a new shell!  He and His Spirit will ‘dwell with you and will be in you’.  God the Father will also love you and they will all come and make THEIR HOME in you!!!  And NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU!  Hebrews 13:5.

ISN’T THIS WHAT YOU WANT?
