SUN-SON!

We were singing a song by Richard Smallwood in church called
‘Jesus, you’re the center of my joy
All that’s good and perfect comes from you…..’ 
And it suddenly became clear that I had missed the biggest, greatest and most obvious metaphor that God ever gave us.

Because it is true, Jesus, the SON of God, is the center of a Christians joy!  All that’s good and perfect spiritually does come from Him!
And I thought of the SUN which is the center of our solar system.  All that’s good and perfect physically comes from it!

This is the biggest, most obvious metaphor yet!!!  How do we miss it?  There is this gigantic sun weighing a mere 4,385,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds shining in our sky day after day.  The sun is 330,000 times heavier than the earth!  1.3 million earths can fit inside it.  The thing is, it looks small because we are so far away from it.  But it is actually ginormous!!!  Look at the Sun and earth size comparison above!

Do you remember what the psalmist said?  ‘The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.’ Psalm 19:1-2.  The physical sun has a spiritual message for us.  It is a revelation of who God is and how He wants us to live.  Can you hear what the sun is saying and what knowledge it is revealing?  My blog is my way of encouraging you to think about these ‘ten thousand truths’ God is sending us.  To encourage you to read ‘the book of nature’.  

The SUN been burning an estimated 4.5 billion years and will continue to burn another
5 billion years.  It is screaming, in its gigantism, ‘I AM AND I LOVE YOU. I created this endless burning sun just for you.  That you might feel its warmth and be reminded of My love.’  That you would be in awe and ‘praise my name, for My name alone is exalted; My splendor is above the earth and the heavens.’ Psalm 148:13. He is a biggggggggggg God!   The sun I created gives you a glimpse of immortality in its endless burning, but I alone am immortal!  ‘God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever.’ 1 Timothy 6:15-16.  

Praise and thank Him for the sun, His wondrous creation.

The SUN is a revelation of God and His SON!

The SUN provides a gravitational pull that helps keep the earth in just the right position to support life.  The SON ‘holds things all together’. Colossians 1:17.

The SUN is by far, the most important source of energy for life on earth.  Wikipedia.  It provides warmth, gives energy to green plants that provide our food and oxygen.  Without this energy we would all die!  The SON said that He was ‘the way and the truth and the LIFE.’ John 14:6.  
As the SUN gives us physical life, so the SON came to give us SPIRITUAL life. Jesus said, ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ John 10:10. 

The SUN is the source of our light.  The SON, Jesus is the ‘light of the world!’ John 8:12.

The SUN gives us light so we can see where we are going. The SON’S ‘word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.’ Psalm 119:105. 

The SUN gives us vitamin D that supports bones and teeth and the health of our immune system. The SON and ‘His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.’ 2 Peter 1:3 NKJV.

The SUN gives us warmth. The SON ‘is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.’
Proverbs 18:24.

Can you look at the SUN?  Not with the naked eye, any more than you can look at God ‘who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see.’ 1 Timothy 6:16.

The SUN warms us and gives us life, BUT, it can also burn you.  According to Space.com, the core of the sun can reach temperatures of more than 27 MILLION degrees!
The SON is omnipotent! He is all powerful!!!!

He warms us and fills us with His love.  Yes, He is our savior who died that we might have life.  We now live in the ‘Age of Grace’, BUT, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that ‘The day of the Lord, (a day of judgement) is coming —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.’ Isaiah 13:9. 

And again in Acts 2:19-21, ‘I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.  The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.  And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’  THANKS BE TO GOD!

The SUN is a warning, that God is both gentle and powerful.  That the ‘Great and Glorious day of the Lord’ is coming.
