The Aurora Borealis is absolutely beautiful! See above photo! People come from all over the world to the ‘hot’ viewing places like Norway just to get a glimpse of it. Did you know that the Aurora is a biproduct of the earth’s magnetic field? The invisible magnetic field that protects us from electrically charged particles that the sun continually ejects from its Corona or upper atmosphere. These particles create what scientists call ‘the solar wind.’ This solar wind slams these particles into the earth’s upper atmosphere at 2 MILLION miles per hour. By the grace of God, these particles are deflected away from the earth by its magnetic field. However, because the field is weaker at the poles, some particles are able to penetrate our atmosphere and collide with gas particles in those two locations. These collisions emit light that we see as the Aurora. Each gas particle has its own ‘fingerprint’ or set of colors. Since our atmosphere is mostly oxygen which emits a green light, the Aurora Borealis most common color Is green.
If the collisions occur in our upper atmosphere, up to 200 miles above the earth, the oxygen will emit a red light. If charged particles collide with nitrogen, whose fingerprint is blue or purplish red, these colors will appear in the Aurora. This magnetic field is called the ‘magnetosphere’ which is a perfect word to describe the magnet field which is in fact shaped like a sphere surrounding the entire earth.
When I see the beauty of the aurora, I hear God say, “See, I have sent you this beauty to remind you of the ‘beauty of my protection’.
Actually, most everyone has seen a mini-Aurora in a tube!! NEON! Neon signs operate the same way! Electricity is applied to neon or other gases within the tube. Their atoms get real excited and it causes them to fluoresce (hence the name fluorescent tubes) emit photons or light, just like the Aurora!
In an on-line article at Futurism.com, staff writer, Johnathan Fuentes writes about the consequences of the earth losing its magnetic field. He said that we take way too much for granted, (TRUE) like the fact that the earth is the perfect distance from the sun to sustain life. We have an invisible atmosphere around the earth that protects us from space debris like meteors. AND, as mentioned above, an invisible magnetic field that protects the earth from the potentially harmful solar wind. So what would happen to the earth if God did not provide this protection. From the sun, we would burn up. From the atmosphere we would get clobbered and the solar wind? The entire earth would suddenly receive an EMT (electromagnetic pulse). Airplanes would fall out of the sky, automobiles would stop dead on the freeway, the electrical grids of entire cities would fail, and half the world would go dark. A compass would no longer work. Animals who rely on the magnetic field to navigate like birds, whales, salmon and even bugs would get lost. The radiation contained in the solar wind would damage our DNA and cause a major increase our chances of getting cancer. If that isn’t bad enough, the solar wind would collide with the gases contained in our atmosphere including oxygen until our atmosphere no longer existed!!
Look up into the sky sometime. Thank God for the protection the atmosphere and the invisible magnetic field provide for you.

Beautiful! I wonder how much more beauty and protection we are unaware of and take for granted? Oh how wonderful our beautiful creator!

There is absolutely NO man/made light show on earth that can even BEGIN to marvel what the Lord of (& over) all creation has made in the Aurora Borealis! It is overwhelming to stand beneath them & marvel at the immensity of God.

You are being protected, even if you are not conscious of it. God is protecting us as we try to make correct choice’s in our lives.

Wow! Absolutely breath taking! Isn’t it amazing that we are just the right distance from the sun to sustain life AND see paintings in the sky?!
