FROG IN THE FREEZER!

The photo above is a real eye grabber!!!

It is supposedly a frozen Alaskan Tree Frog!  However, according to Snopes, the facts checking website, there is no such thing as an Alaskan Tree Frog.  In fact, ‘this widely-circulated image appears to simply be a garden ornament covered with frost!’

However, there is a wood frog that lives in Alaska that does freeze in the winter.  While frozen, it is essentially one dead Froggie!  It stops breathing and its heart stops beating.  Two thirds of its body is completely frozen!  The craziest thing of all may be that in this frozen state, they can withstand temperatures as low as zero degrees Fahrenheit for as long as seven months, and then, when spring arrives, thaw out and hop away!

This is because these frogs have a high level of glucose in their cells that keeps them ‘alive’ throughout the long, cold Alaska winter.  Another of God’s WONDERS!

How many times do we see examples of resurrection in the scriptures and the natural world?  That which appears to be dead comes back to life!!!  Remember the ancient, 2000-year-old date palm seed I mentioned in my devo, ‘All Rise’?  The seed that was retrieved from the rubble of Masada in Israel and recently germinated!  I am certain that it looked dead like the frozen frog, yet it came to life after 2000 years!  Isn’t the frog just another dramatic example of resurrection? That physical death is not THE END.  That we will be resurrected!

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in me will live, even though he die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’ John 11:25-26. He proved that He was indeed ‘the resurrection and the life’ by raising His dear friend Lazarus from the dead!  And because He is the ‘life’, if you believe in Him, when you die physically, you will be resurrected to a new life with Him.

A famous preacher, D.L. Moody once said, “someday you will read in the papers, ‘D.L. Moody is dead.’  Don’t you believe a word of it.  At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now.”

How can he say this???  First, he believes in Jesus who is ‘the life’.  He knows that when he dies physically, he will immediately be in the presence of the ‘Lord’!  ‘To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.’ 2 Corinthians 5:8 NKJV.

He knows that when he dies, he will leave a natural, physical body sown in corruption, dishonor and weakness, for a spiritual body raised in incorruption, glory and power!

‘So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.  It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.  It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.’ 1 Corinthians 15:42-44.

He knows that Jesus promised to prepare a place for him when he dies’
‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.’
John 14:1-2.

Do you believe in Him?  So that you too, like D.L. Moody will be ‘more alive after your physical death than you are right now?’

I SINCERELY HOPE SO!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!

  1. Brother Stu:
How beautiful that the created “natural” realm always makes a connection with the spiritual order & the promises of God.
I watched a NOVA program about the subatomic “invisible” matter, neutrino. Neutrinos projected from the sun can pass through the entire earth from one side to the other side uninhibited & imperceptibly detected. It brings to mind how Jesus would just show up & then vanish again at will (Lu. 24:13-36; Jo. 20.26) after his resurrection. Also in Acts 8:26-40 where the Holy Spirit transported Phillip from Gaza up to Ashdod near Jerusalem in the twinkling of an eye! The Lord has put so much stuff together in His universe that we don’t have a clue about how it all works. But our finite knowledge of temporal things keeps dropping hints & confirmations about the eternal!
    Yeah God!!
