FOOTSTEPS!

They lay for miles                                                                                                                                     These footsteps in the sand
We all leave them
Our histories intertwined

Visible or invisible
They all lead to an inevitable end
Washed or blown away
Never to be seen again!    MRB

Footsteps in the sand are fascinating!   You hear yourself saying, ‘Someone has been here!  Who were they?  Where were they going?  Do they realize that with a bit of wind or the rising tide, the history of their appearance will disappear?’

Isn’t that what life is, just a few ‘footsteps in the sand?’  The Bible has other examples from the Book of Nature.

‘The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.’ Psalm 103:15-16.  Or, ‘You do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.’  James 4:14.

These are all reminders that God placed in the natural world.  Life is short and you never know when yours might come to an end!  As the scripture above said, ‘You do not know what will happen tomorrow.’

That is why Dr. Charles Stanley Pastor Emeritus and founder of In Touch Ministries calls the following the most solemn warning in all of scripture!

‘SEEK THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND, CALL ON HIM WHILE HE IS NEAR.’  Isaiah 55:6.

In other words, seek Him and call on Him NOW while you are still alive, ‘while He may be found’, ‘while He is near.’  THERE IS AN URGENCY HERE, (an importance requiring swift action) Webster.

This scripture makes it clear that the Lord will NOT always be able to be found and will not always be near!

A prophesy of Isaiah makes this clear; ‘This is what the LORD says: ‘In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you.’  Isaiah 49:8.

This was written 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ!  It is saying that there WILL be a time of His favor and a day of salvation.

The Apostle Paul said, IT IS NOW!!  ‘I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.  2 Corinthians 6:2.

IT IS HERE!  AND IT IS NOW!  BUT…… this ‘time of salvation’ and ‘time of His favor’ will not last forever.  That is why He said, ‘Seek Him now while He may be found’.

We are in a time in history that theologians call ‘The Age of Grace’!  As the Apostle Paul wrote in Titus 2:11, ‘The grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to ALL people.’

But, ‘THE DAY OF THE LORD’ is coming!  He will come, as the Apostle Paul says, ‘like a thief in the night’.  No one knows when He is coming!  But when He does, it will mark the end of ‘The Age of Grace’.  He will come as a righteous judge and separate the sheep (those who have received His salvation), from the goats (those who have not).  The sheep will receive their inheritance, eternal life!  The goats, (you don’t want to know).

Remember, we are all like grass, like footsteps in the sand, a vapor!   Life is VERY short.  Just ask me, I’m almost 80!  And whether you believe it or not, judgement awaits, either at our death, ‘And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment’.  Hebrews 9:27, or on the ‘The Day of the Lord’, His return.  This is the urgency shown in the Book of Nature!  We never know when our life will end or when Jesus will return!

Do you Know Him?  Have you received the salvation He offers?
Be assured!  ‘If you seek Him, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart!’
Jeremiah 29:13.

SEEK HIM!!!

  1. Thank God I’ve seen the light and heard His message of salvation and I’m hidden in Christ Jesus and my footsteps are no longer just marks in the sand but have become eternal marks as I share God’s message of salvation!

  2. Thanks for your important, heart-felt and Holy Spirit-inspired, plea for everyone to realize that our time on Earth is short and that God wants us (everyone) to accept His offer of eternal life through receiving His Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior. IHS, John
