Open up my eyes in wonder……….
Most of us take rain for granted….We don’t really think about it. You will, if you ever try to keep your plants green with a watering can when it hasn’t rained for a while! And then, with one rainfall, everything revives, and your plants are all happy again!!! How does God do it?
Do you ever stop to think about how in the world God waters the entire earth? He just does!!!
Clouds are God’s watering can. They hold the water and disperse it all over the world!
According to factaday.com, ‘Every minute of the day there is 1 billion tons of rain that falls around the Earth collectively. That equals 264 billion gallons of water!’
’The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops.’ Psalm 65:8-10.
If you think about it, rain is no mystery. You can see it form on your pop can you just removed from the refrigerator or the dew on the grass in the early morning. It’s the miracle of condensation. When water vapor in the air meets cool air, it condenses. It changes from a vapor (gas) to a liquid. A cool can of soda meets the warm air of your house or cool air at night meets the warm ground, you see droplets of water form on your can or on the ground as dew. The same thing happens in a cloud. Water vapor evaporating from the earth rises and meets cool air, it changes into a liquid raindrop. When these raindrops get too heavy, they fall to earth as rain. The reason rain perks up your plants more than a watering can is not only the volume of water, but rain drops encapsulate dissolved nitrogen on the way down which plants love! Your watering can has water containing chlorine, fluorides, salts and minerals that can actually be harmful to your plants.
In the Genesis account of the Garden of Eden, before God sent rain to the earth, ‘springs came up from the ground and watered all the land.’ Genesis 2:6. Sounds wonderful! Then He sent rain to the earth as it says in Psalm 104:13.
‘He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.’
‘The land is satisfied, not destroyed!!!
So how did we get from ‘the land being satisfied by God’s rain’ to the land being destroyed by thunderstorms, that produce damaging wind, tornadoes, hail and lightning, hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones?
Someone intervened! That someone is the ‘prince of the power of the air’, ‘the God of this world’, the devil who came ‘to kill, steal and destroy’! Catch this, according to the New Oxford American Dictionary, the derivative of the word, cyclone, is ‘probably from the Greek word, kuklōmaor wheel, the coil of asnake’.
It’s the coil of snake all right and extremely destructive. So when you see a dividing line forming between a gentle rain and destructive weather, what do you do?
Do you remember the story of Jesus calming the storm? Jesus and the disciples were in a boat. Jesus was asleep. A furious storm came up and the disciples panicked! ‘The disciples woke Jesus, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.’ Then He asked them a question, “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.’ Luke 8:24-25. In other words, why didn’t the disciples calm the storm? He is saying that they had the faith they needed, but didn’t use it and He was disappointed in them because He had ‘given them authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.’ (Including a storm that is out of control and will indeed harm them if they don’t take authority over it.) Luke 10:19.
As a Christian, you have been given the authority in Jesus name to ‘overcome all the power of the enemy who wants to harm you, and enjoy God’s gentle rain!!!!!!!!!!
We live in Oklahoma, it’s in Tornado Alley. You better have faith and use your authority over the enemy who wants to Kill you, steal what you own and destroy your property!
On May 3, 1999, in one of the largest tornado outbreaks ever recorded, a massive twister followed a path roughly along the Turner Turnpike through Stroud.
While the storm spared Stroud’s residents of death or serious injury, it wrecked the local economy. With the destruction of the Tanger Outlet Mall, 53 stores, 350 jobs and half the city’s sales taxes were wiped out. The owner of the mall decided not to rebuild, leaving behind a huge, vacant parking lot. That tornado continued up the turnpike toward our house. My boys and I were standing in the back door pointing toward the twister taking authority over it in Jesus name. We could see it coming from the west. Right below our house it split in half. One half went north taking the roofs off several houses and one half went south taking the roof off a house and dismantling a mobile home park, throwing several mobile homes across the street. It didn’t come to our house!!!! Remember Psalm 91:7. ‘A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.’ Psalm 91:7. AMEN!
If you want to learn more about a Christian’s authority, I recommend that you listen to Andrew Womack’s teachings entitled, ‘The Believer’s Authority, What you didn’t learn in Church!’ or read his book by the same title. The following is a link to his web site: https://www.awmi.net/popular/
Isn’t Good wonderful for providing all we need. Water for our lives and His authority for our lives! Thank you Father!

Great post. We had a tornado show up in our town several years ago. Didn’t come near us but I got calls asking if we were OK. It landed 6-8 miles from us. Father God kept us safe.
