MOLE METAPHOR!

Do you like moles?  Doubt it.  They are considered pests, because they make giant mounds in your pristine (?) yard.  You can’t see them, because they live underground, but you can see their effects…the incriminating mounds.  Some people work frantically to rid themselves of these yard wreckers.

Moles pose an interesting metaphor.

Moles are telling us a spiritual truth!  There is one whom you cannot see, he lives in darkness, but no one can deny his effects.  There is evil in this world.  Covid is proof of that!  Do you see it.  Do you work frantically to rid yourself or others of this spiritual life wrecker?

According to the scriptures, there is one called the devil who ‘comes only to ‘steal, kill, and destroy’.

Seen any of that lately?  Just turn on the news.

But, Jesus came that you ‘may have life, and have it to the full’.  Can you see the powerful contrast?  How many times has God been blamed for what the devil has done.

The trouble is, some people, like the mole love the darkness!

‘This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.’  John 3:19

Some people think all of this devil stuff is just foolishness!

That is because all of this is only spiritually discerned.

The apostle Paul, speaking to the Corinthians, said this, ‘What we speak, is not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit (of God), explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.  The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.’  1 Corinthians 2:14.

Jesus died so that we could receive His Holy Spirit and discern all things.  Through His Spirit we would see the ‘mole’ in the darkness, not just see the negative effect he has on the lives of so many people.

I pray that:
He would ‘Open your eyes and turn you from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, so that you may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus.’  Acts 26:18. (paraphrased). And would learn how to fight.  You can’t fight what you don’t believe in.

Believe and fight.  Because the devil, ‘prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.’  James 4:7.

Don’t let him devour you.  Remember, if you ‘submit yourself to God, resist the devil, he will flee from you.’  1 Peter 5:8.

  1. Those nasty bumps in the yard are very apparent when they appear. May the spiritual bumps in our levee be just as apparent! Lord open my eyes!
