‘Waxwing Bird’ photo by Ilya Yuru on PxHere.
This beautiful Cedar Waxwing bird pictured above has something to tell us!
Don’t eat the berries!!!
This is astounding! It is just as Job said! ‘Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you.’ Job 12:7.
To think that we have a warning in the Book of Nature! There are consequences for overeating fermented fruit, fruit that has turned into alcohol by fermentation.
This North American bird’s main diet is Polk Berries that unfortunately ferment while thawing out in the spring. The birds eat them and become intoxicated. They FUI, fly under the influence, become disoriented and fly into windows or the sides of buildings. Worse yet, they end up on the ground and become vulnerable to predators (such as house cats). If they are rescued, it takes them 2 days to get over their hangover and sober up in a Wildlife Center.
Why don’t people read The Book of Nature? These birds clearly show the dangers of alcohol consumption! And yet people continue to consume alcohol with great abandon!
Just look at some statistics compiled by NIH, (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism).
‘In the past year, 174,339,000 people 12 and older reported that they drank alcohol.’
‘Research has shown that people who misuse alcohol have a greater risk of liver disease, heart disease, depression, stroke, and stomach bleeding, as well as cancers of the oral cavity, esophagus, larynx, pharynx, liver, colon, and rectum. These individuals may also have problems managing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, pain, and sleep disorders. Misusing alcohol may also increase the likelihood of unsafe sexual behavior.’
‘Alcohol consumption is associated with increased risk of drowning and injuries from violence, falls, and motor vehicle crashes.’
‘Approximately 10.5% (7.5 million) of U.S. children ages 17 and younger live with a parent who has Alcohol Use Disorder, according to a 2017 report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).’
‘The economic burden of Alcohol Use Disorder in 2010 was $249 Billion.’
And MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) are really mad!!! The following are some of their statistics regarding alcohol consumption:
Every day, about 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes – that’s one person every 39 minutes. In 2021, 13,384 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths. These deaths were all preventable.
MADD is doing something to solve the problem.
Their website has the following headlines:
Solving the Problem / Get Help / Get Involved / About / 24/7 Help / Donate Now.
I liked this recommendation under solving the problem: Will you accept MADD’s promposal?
Which reads: Have a substance free Prom night.
Plan a safe ride home.
Never ride with an impaired driver.
They talk about the Minimum Drinking Age, the Power of Parents, the Power of You(th) and the Power of Me and much more. You can click on the link below for more info:

Why not listen to what the waxwing is telling us in the Book of Nature,
be wise
and don’t become another statistic?
it is amazing the messages for life that our Creator has put in nature! Why would I want to participate in something that makes me vulnerable, and like the birds lay exposed and vulnerable on the sidewalk of life. Great message!

if only people didn’t live in the “it’ll never happen to me” mindset… I wish more people heeded the warnings of alcohol.
