H20!

Did you really look at the photo above?  It is a single drop of water!!!

It inspired me to write this post!  Water can be SO BEAUTIFUL and so can the Trinity that it represents!  WATER!!!!  Since 96% of the earth is covered in water and everything God made has a message in it, water is one gigantic metaphor!  I believe it helps us understand the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Water can be a liquid, a solid (ice) or a vapor (steam), but it’s still water.  Each member of the Trinity, though named differently are each God.  ‘The word trinity comes from “tri” meaning three and “unity” meaning one. God is three distinct individuals – God the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.’
Bible Study Tools.

Right in the first verse of the Bible we read about God creating the heavens and the earth. ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God the Father said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.’
Genesis 1:1-3.
And from the New Testament we know that ‘in Jesus all things were created!’
‘The Son (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  Colossians 1:15-16.
We see God speaking, ‘Let there be light’.  We see ‘the Holy Spirit hovering’.  And we see Jesus creating.  The Trinity being evident in the first few verses of the Bible. This plurality of God is further seen in the use of the word ‘us’ in verse 26.  Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness’.

In verse 27 we see that we are created in his own image!  And we understand that we also are a trinity in His image.  We are a spirit being that has a soul and lives in a body.
‘So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.’  Genesis 1:26-27.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve related to God spiritually.  Their spirit was designed to house God’s Spirit and life, and relate to the invisible, spiritual realm.  It enabled them to operate by faith and hear God’s voice.  Their soul, their mind, will and emotions were created to relate to the natural realm, the world around them through their intellect, knowledge, wisdom, logic, feelings, using their five senses.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they died spiritually and were separated from God!  ‘But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.’  Isaiah 59:2.

They could no longer operate by faith, hear God’s voice, or feel His presence.  What a mess!

On their own, disconnected from God, they had only their five senses to relate to the world around them.  And that’s how we find ourselves until we are ‘born again’ and reconnected with God the way He originally intended.  2 Corinthians 5:17.  ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!’  Now, ‘in Christ’ we are once again called to ‘be led by our spirit’, ‘living by faith’, ‘hearing God’s voice’ and hungering after God!

Remember Psalm 42:1?  ‘As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.’  King David wrote these beautiful words as he meditated on his love and hunger for God. We should be as thirsty for God as a deer that is so thirsty it is ‘panting for water’.  You know what it feels like to be very thirsty.  Be that thirsty for God!

For one of the best explanations of the Trinity, I recommend that you listen to or watch Dutch Sheets ‘Give Him 15’, April 18th, 2024.
