THEY AREN’T UNDERSTANDING HUMAN, HE’S UNDERSTANDING THEM… IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGES. — TOMMY STUBBINS ABOUT DR. DOLITTLE
WHY NOT?
Don’t you wish your cat or dog could talk to you sometimes?
Well, Dr. Dolittle was special!
And so are you! You were created in God’s own image and likeness! Meditate on that! Apparently, God chose speech as His way of communicating with man. He could have had man communicate in any way He chose! When He created Adam and Eve, they were immediately able to speak and understand what God said. The scriptures simply say that, ‘God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them; and immediately God said, ’Be fruitful’, etc. Genesis 1. And they understood Him!!!
In Genesis 2 we find Adam NAMING wild animals and birds! ‘And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.’
In Genesis 3, ‘But the Lord God CALLED to man,’ and said, “where are you?”
Adam ANSWERED, “I heard you in the garden”. God communicates with speech! Speech is His invention! You are in His image and likeness, speech is His gift to you.
And God is still speaking today.
He could have had us communicate like the mantis shrimp who bounce light off blue spots on their appendages called maxillipeds, scattering and arranging light across the surface in ways that can covey information to other mantis shrimp. Or the African Mole Rat who communicate with one another by thumping their heads against the tops of their tunnels.
Or like the Asiatic wild dogs, sometimes called ‘whistling dogs’ who alert each other about the location of prey through whistle sounds.
The Blue Whale sings, other animals communicate with ultrasound frequencies over 70,000 Hertz like the Bat that are far too high or the Elephant, too low-pitched for the human ear to detect. Some birds can mimic speech. Animals and critters have interesting ways of communication, but God set humans apart by giving them the ability to speak. He created a ‘speech center’ in our brain that gives us this special ability to speak!
As you probably remember, when God created all the plants and animals, etc., He said it was good. But when He created man, He said it was VERY GOOD.
Like I said before, you are His masterpiece!
Are you grateful for this gift of speech? Do you know that God gave you, not the other animals, birds and critters the ability to speak primarily because He wants to communicate with you!
And above all, He wants you to use your ability to speak to ‘praise’ Him, to say praiseworthy things about Him continually!
‘Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.’ Psalm 34:1
In fact, we are commanded to praise Him some 250 times in the bible!!!
And what will be your reward if you do? Psalm 22:3 KJV.
‘HE WILL INHABIT YOUR PRAISE!
