THE MILD-MANNERED HONEY BADGER!

Well, not really…Honey badgers are fearless, fierce, feisty little mammals about the size of a small or medium dog.  They are very fond of honey-bee larvae and been known to dive head-first into a beehive tolerating hundreds of stings from the angry bees.  Hence their name!

They are much more powerful than their size suggests with 1½ inch claws and teeth strong enough to crack a tortoise shell!  They have short hair, but very thick skin, especially around their neck.  Porcupine quills, bee stings and dog bites rarely penetrate this thick skin.

These fearless predators have been seen chasing seven lions away from their kill.  They will even hunt scorpions and venomous snakes!  A snake bite will temporarily knock out a honey badger, but after a couple of hours it wakes up and continues its yummy snake dinner!  This is possible because of its thick skin and a special immunity to the toxins in snake venom.

It seems to me that anyone in sales could learn a lot from this critter.  Read the following business quotes.  Sound like the badger?

“Play by the rules but be ferocious.”  Phil Knight.
“I don’t know the word ‘quit.’  Either I never did, or I have abolished it.”  Susan Butcher.
“There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them.
Forget past mistakes.  Forget failures.  Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it.”  William Durant.
“Success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.”  Coco Chanel.
“Persistence is the key to making anything successful.” Eric Pulier.

Job said, ‘ask the beasts and they will teach you.’ Job 12:7-10.  Certainly this highly motivated badger would tell you to “Never give up.  Never quit.  Be fearless.  Be fiercely motivated.  If you have to, stick your head in the bees’ nest and you will eventually be successful!

Does this sound like good advice?

Look at I Corinthians 9:24. ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize.’

Hebrews 12:1-2. ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.’

2 Timothy 1:7. ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’

All this wisdom just for the asking from the amazing Honey Badger!

GO FOR IT!
