REMORAS!

‘Nurse Shark with Remoras’ photo by Duncan Wright CC BY-SA 3.0

Never have I seen a more powerful metaphor from the ‘Book of Nature’ than that of the Remoras Fish!!

The remoras is a fish with a suction cup on the top of its head that helps it attach itself to a shark!  (See photo above).  When the shark feeds, the fish eats the scraps of food left over by the shark.  The shark also provides transportation all over the ocean and protection from predators!  All the remoras has to do is hang on!!!

Sound familiar???

All we have to do is attach ourselves to God and hang on!  The Lord (God) becomes our shepherd, and we will have everything we need! Psalm 23 makes this clear!

‘The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  (A shepherd loves and cares for you).He makes me lie down in green pastures, (He helps you to be successful in life) he leads me beside quiet waters, (He gives you peace)
he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  (He gives you guidance).  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (He will protect you and give you comfort!). You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  (In Scripture, oil symbolizes wealth, abundance, health, energy, and a vital ingredient for a good life.  He gives you spiritual abundance).
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, (He gives you an abundant life!)  and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.’ (He gives you eternal life!).  Psalm 23:1-6.

IF the Lord is your shepherd, THEN all the promises listed in Psalm 23 and all the rest of the 8,810 promises in the bible are yours!

As Psalm 23 makes clear, like the Remoras, you will ‘lack nothing!’  All your needs will be met including protection from your enemies!

You ask, “How do I attach myself to God?”   There is a go-between, it is Jesus Christ!  He is the mediator or ‘go-between’ between you and God the Father.
‘For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.’
1 Timothy 2:5.  In fact, He said that He is the only way to come to God!
‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’  John 14:6.

It is so simple!  He also said, ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.’  Revelation 3:20. He will reattach you to Himself!

ANSWER THE DOOR!  And like the remoras, you will have everything you need, you will ‘lack nothing’!!!
