‘The most impossible dance on earth!’

‘Sharp-tailed Grouse’ photo by Keith Confer/ Macaulay Library.

According to an article in Greater Good Magazine, ‘our human bodies are hardwired for dance, which might explain why it’s so good for our health, happiness, and relationships.’
Cave paintings suggest that people were dancing 70,000 years ago!  King David was certainly ‘hardwired’ for dance!
We find the story of him ‘dancing before the Lord’ in the bible, 2 Samuel, chapter 6.
He was ‘dancing with all his might’ because Israel’s enemies had returned the ark of the Lord to God’s people.  Unfortunately, when his wife, Michal ‘saw him leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.’
2 Samuel 6:14-16.

And here lies a lesson for us all!

We can all ‘dance before the Lord’ as King David did!  After all, as Christians we have much to celebrate!  As the prophet Isaiah wrote:  ‘I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.’  Isaiah 61:10.

Or, as King David said:  ‘You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.’  Psalm 30:11-12.

One thing to remember!  God will never condemn you for dancing before Him.  He loves it.  But your friends or fellow Christians may.  Don’t you be one.  King David became known as ‘a man after God’s own heart!’  Michal, who despised David for Dancing before the Lord,  missed out.
“She lost what she had and never obtained what she might have had. She never had children. She lost the lasting companionship with her husband, King David, (they divorced) and most importantly, she missed out on a personal relationship with God, the true King.  She missed out on her royal inheritance from the Lord.  Her life could have had a very different ending, if only she would have humbled herself, asked for forgiveness, let go of her pride, and become a woman after God’s own heart. She could have shared in her husband’s victories and triumphs.   She desired position, rather than fruition. As a result, she missed out on the abundant, fruitful life God wanted her to have.”  From an article by Misty House, award winning Christian author.  If you want to read the complete article, ‘Dancing Before the Lord:  Life Lessons from the Bible’, click on the following link: https://www.mistiehouseauthor.com/post/dancing-before-the-lord-life-lessons-from-king-david-and-michal-bible-study

As Mistie goes on to say, “Like David, we can live a victorious life, we can become a man or woman after God’s own heart, and we can dance unashamed and unapologetic before the Lord.”

Let the Sharp-tailed Grouse be your inspiration and,

DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!!!
