SAND!

Jesus uses rock and sand from The Book of Nature in a metaphor to emphasize the value of building your life on the solid foundation of God’s word!  He says,  ‘Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man
who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.’  Luke 7:24-27.

Click on the following link and you will see the absolute truth of His words!!!‘Moment North Carolina Beach House (built on sand) Collapses Into Ocean’

Believe it or not, six houses built on sand on the North Carolina Outer Banks Sea shore, collapsed into the ocean in 2024.  There have been 11 since 2020

Didn’t the people who built these houses read their Bible???

Sand is made up of loose particles.  Anyone who has been to the beach knows this.  It gets all over you.  It gets in your shoes, sticks to your skin and goes home with you. But, if you take the time to look, it can also be beautiful as the wind and waves sculpt it on the shoreline or in the desert. (See photo above.)  Just don’t build your house on it.

A rock is solid, difficult to break it can withstand major storms.  Rocks stand firm!
It is symbolic of the unchanging God and His words.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.’  Hebrews 13:8.
‘I the LORD do not change.’  Malachi 3:6.

And neither do His promises!
‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.’  2 Corinthians 1:20.

God is called ‘The Rock’ over and over in the Old and New Testament.

Samuel said it.
‘The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock!  Exalted be my God, the Rock, my Savior!’
2 Samuel 22:47.

David said it.
‘I love you, LORD, my strength.  The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.’  Psalm 18:1-2.

Isaiah said it.
‘Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.’  Isaiah 26:4.

Paul said it.
They drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.’  1 Corinthians 10:4.

Why not follow in the footsteps of some of the great men of the faith.  Make God your ‘Rock’. Put God first!   Build your life with Him as a firm foundation.  Build upon it by learning the Word of God and exercising your faith!  As the scripture says, ‘We live by faith’.  And we ‘live by the word of God.’  And you will live Secure (Definition:  fixed or fastened so as not to give way,  not subject to threat, certain to remain or continue safe and unharmed, protected against attack) and at PEACE.

As an old hymn makes this clear:

‘On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand.’
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand.      Song by Billy Graham Family Band.
