MOSQUITO!

Don’t you just love mosquitos!  NOT!  Click on the link below and watch ‘The Birth of a Mosquito’ and you will never look at a mosquito in the same way again.  The clip is from a full-length movie entitled, ‘Microcosmos’ which I used to show my design class every year.  It is all about bugs!  They saved the best until the end of the movie, the Birth of a Mosquito.  It is one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen!  I have never forgotten it!  It also contains an extremely significant metaphor from the Book of Nature.  Please take the time to click on the link and watch this remarkable sequence!!!

‘The Birth of a Mosquito!’  Luis A. Tenaglia.  Microcosmos 2012.

As I watch this video, I remember this scripture in Job…‘He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.’  Job 5:9.   Job was right!  Who can ‘fathom’ what God can do!!!

The following excerpt is taken in part from an article written by the Mosquito Control Division, Cumberland County, New Jersey.

If you don’t want to be bitten by a mosquito, just don’t breathe!  Mosquitoes can smell human breath. They have receptors on their antennae that detect the carbon dioxide released when we exhale. Those plumes of CO2 rise into the air, acting as trails that the mosquitoes follow to find the source.  Our skin has more than 340 chemical odors, and some of them smell like dinner to mosquitoes.  Body heat marks the target. Mosquitoes use heat sensors around their mouthparts to detect the warmth of your body – actually, the blood inside it –then land on you and locate the best capillaries for tapping.  Yum!  Mosquitoes are considered the deadliest “animal” in the world. The Anopheles mosquito, in particular, is dangerous because it transmits malaria, which kills more than one million people every year, primarily in Africa

They are nasty, but they also carry THE MOST POWERFUL MESSAGE IN THE BOOK OF NATURE!  The message of redemption.   Here is a mosquito who is ‘saved or redeemed’ from a life as a larva under water to a new life as a mosquito above the water’s surface where it can see and fly around freely.  It is a brand-new creation!

Doesn’t that remind you of the scripture which describes Christian redemption from
2 Corinthians 5:17-18. NKJV. ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new’.  Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ’.

People are always wondering, ‘What is the meaning of life?’

We are born separated from God.  Life’s meaning is to be redeemed or reconnected to God, the one who made you.  You have one lifetime to respond to God and be ‘reconciled to Him through Christ.’  The mosquito is telling you a beautiful message that you don’t have to spend your life in the pupae stage, but can be born again to a life where you can ‘see’ the kingdom of God, hear His voice and feel His presence in your life.  In John 3:3, Jesus said, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’

Think about the millions of mosquitos carrying the message of redemption to the whole world!

BE RECONCILED TO GOD!
