Gold is extraterrestrial!!!!
It is otherworldly!  It had its origins in outer space!  It was forged in supernova explosions and flung into outer space.  Fortunately for us, it found its way into the earth’s crust riding on meteorites!  Of course it took millions of years to accumulate deposits on the earth.  According to one website, 99% of the earth’s gold is now in its core.  If you want to get rich, just figure out how to mine the earth’s core!!!! 

According to Wikimedia Commons, the deepest gold mine in the world is 2.5 miles deep.  It is called the Mponeng Gold Mine and is located in South Africa.  The earth’s core is 1800 miles beneath our feet.  They have a ways to go if they want to mine gold from its core!

Why gold?  It is one of the most sought-after precious metals in the world.  It is an everlasting symbol of luck, prosperity and wealth.  And men wanted it bad!  The California Gold Rush brought 300,000 prospectors to California in 1848.  The frenzy continued in 1896 with the Alaska Gold Rush which lured a stampede of 100,000 would be prospectors to Alaska in search of gold.  Some withstanding temperatures of -58 degrees trying to make it to the fields of gold.

Why did God hide these gold and other precious metals, diamonds and rubies in the earth and make them difficult to find?  Isn’t this a metaphor for the riches He has for us?  He wants us to desire them MORE than gold, more than diamonds or rubies.  He wants us to dig for them.  And He promised:
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’  Jeremiah 33:3.

In fact, He sent us His Spirit to ‘teach us all things!
‘But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.’  John 14:26.

Think about the great God we serve!  Is there any end to the ‘depth and riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God that we can know?  The God who ‘created your inmost being, who knit you together in your mother’s womb.’  Psalm 139:13.
Who created the universe and the beautiful earth we live on!

As the scripture says: ‘Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!   “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”   “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”  For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.’ Romans 11:33-36.

And for you I pray Paul’s prayer found in Ephesians 1:17-19: He prayed that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  He prayed that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. ‘
