Can the Scarlet Ibis shown in the photo above prove to you that, ‘You are what you eat?’
ABSOLUTELY! It carries a significant message that has become a warning sign to America!
The Ibis is the most vibrant red bird in the world! Its brilliant red color comes from carotene, a red pigment found in the crustations it eats! This bird has been in existence for 60 million years preaching the same message!
The Trump administration listened. They have launched a campaign under the leadership of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. entitled, ‘Make America Healthy Again’!!! THANK GOD!
A report on a website entitled, fooddive.com, published the following statement: ‘A Trump administration report points to chemicals in ultra-processed ingredients and the environment as among primary causes for a rise in chronic diseases, potentially signaling a shift in how certain foods are regulated. The report, released last week by a presidential ‘Make America Healthy Again’ commission claims that exposure to food additives and other chemicals contribute to a variety of childhood developmental issues and chronic diseases, including obesity and diabetes. The group is expected to make policy recommendations based on the report in August, promising a ‘coordinated transformation of our food, health, and scientific systems.’
America is waking up! There are a myriad of reels on Facebook every day talking about what we should or should not be eating! This is good information, because ‘You are what you eat!’ Certain foods you eat can cause you to be obese, become a diabetic, mentally ill, etc.! Fortunately, we live in a time when America is waking up! The internet is being bombarded with countless reels on what to and not to eat…which products in your kitchen or bathroom are a danger to your health. Listen to some of the headlines from the net:
‘Don’t get sick, eat these four foods now.’
‘Toxins are hiding everywhere.’
‘I would never use these products in my home.’
’17 items you should avoid.’
‘Fruits, ticking time bombs.’
‘Clean vs. toxic soap.’
‘You are being poisoned!’
But, America is becoming aware! Read what FDA (Federal Drug Administration) Commissioner, David Kessler has to say: ‘Over the past 40 years, the United States has been exposed to something that our biology was never intended to handle, energy dense, highly palpable, rapidly absorbable ultra-processed foods that have altered our metabolism and has resulted in the greatest increase in chronic disease in our history! These include, type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, hypertension, abnormal lipids, fatty liver, heart attacks, stroke and heart failure. All from our foods!
These foods are everywhere!
An article from thegaurdian.com states: ‘Ultra Processed Foods make up 73% of the US food supply! This according to Northeastern University’s Network Science Institute. UPF’s like sugary breakfast cereals, microwave dinners, soft drinks and packaged snacks. They provide the average US adult with more than 60% of their daily calories. (But, as others have said), research is increasingly linking UPF’s to a whole host of health issues: from cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes to colorectal cancer and depression.’
Thank God this vibrant red, Scarlet Ibis, the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago has helped us to become aware of the truth of the statement, ‘You are what you eat!’ and our government is doing something about it!!! The ‘Make America Healthy Campaign’ came out with a new recommended ‘Food Pyramid.’ A new headline has appeared on the net, ‘First-of-its-kind lawsuit targets processed food, UPF’s!
We are blessed to be alive (I’m 82) and glad to see this day and look forward to a time when we can once again go to the grocery store and trust that what we purchase will help make us healthy and strong, and not make us sick!
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!
thank you Scarlett Ibis for showing us a good lesson of life!

Thanks for another important and informative message, Stu! The Scarlet I is eats shrimp (crustaceans) that have eaten bluegreen algae. One of their main accessory photosynthetic pigments is carotene. It’s red color is masked by green Chlorophyll a, the main photosynthetic pigment. The carotene isn’t degraded in the shrimp’s (or Ibis’) digestive tract.
