SUPER SPIDER!

Female Jumping Spider by Raw Pixel CCO

Do you have a fear of spiders?  If you do, you are not alone.  According to The British Psychological Society, an estimated 6% of the general population suffer from full-blown arachnophobia.  (A fear of spiders).  What is amazing is some people have them as pets!!!

Especially the Jumping Spider.  (See how cute they are in the photo above).  This is what Melissa Mariner, owner of a very successful spider pet store, Spooderhood Spiders has to say about them: “Jumping spiders make amazing pets. Not only are they super friendly, docile, (cute) and curious little creatures, but they have the ability to bond with their humans. People don’t call them “web puppies” for nothing! They are magical little beings changing minds about the 8-legged “beasts” of the world one person at a time. All you have to do is meet one to see how special they are!”

I agree with her and hopefully so will you after you get to know the Regal Jumping Spider, the ‘Super Spider’ with (more than) ‘Three Superpowers’.  See video link below.

The Regal Jumping Spider is only ¼ to under 1 inch in diameter, yet God has provided them with all they need to survive and prosper.  As David Attenborough suggests in the video below, they have ‘SUPERPOWERS’!!!

They can jump more than 50 times their body length!

They are very smart, they trail a silk ‘dragline’ behind them to break their fall in case they miss a jump.

They have extraordinary eyesight!  Two large eyes that help them calculate the distance and direction needed to jump on their prey.  And two smaller eyes to watch for any enemies who might want them for lunch!

They can plan their attack, formulate ideas!  (See the video).  They execute brilliant ideas like moving above their prey and silently lowering themselves down on to it or going to the edge of a spiders web and plucking the web to fool their prey into thinking lunch is about to be served, when in actuality, they become the jumping spiders lunch!

The male knows how to dance!

As I began to learn about this amazing critter, I realized that God had given critters even a lowly spider everything they needed to survive and prosper!

BUT WHAT ABOUT US?

If you read the book of Genesis, you will find out what God originally intended for us to have so that we too can survive and prosper.  We were meant to live with God Himself in fellowship and communion with Him, walking with Him and hearing His voice.
What happened?

Man sinned against God ‘BIG TIME’ and got kicked out of the garden.  Now you and I and everybody else born into this world are born separated from God and don’t have what we need to survive and prosper as God originally intended.  BUT, God had a plan!!!

He sent His Son, Jesus into the world to reconcile us to Himself and restore to us all those things we originally had to survive and prosper.  To make it once again possible to walk with God and hear His voice!

That is why Jesus said, ‘You must be born again’.  John 3:7.  Being ‘born again’ restores the relationship man once had with God and ‘His divine power (then) gives us EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR THE GODLY LIFE through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.’  2 Peter 1:3-4.

Although we were incomplete, ‘We (become) complete in Him’.  (Jesus).
Colossians 2:10.  NKJV.

And as Ephesians 2:10 says in the Jerusalem Bible, ‘We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as from the beginning he had meant us to live it.’
In other words, once we are created in Christ, (born again), then we can ‘live the good life’ with everything we need to survive and prosper as He meant us to from the beginning!  Because, ‘If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new’.  2 Corinthians 5:17.  He is a ‘new creation’ now with everything he needs to survive and prosper.

And we will have this advantage!  ‘We can be confident, ‘that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’  Philippians 1:6.

WE ARE BLESSED and have so much more than a lowly spider!

As the video link below suggests, there is a spider with ‘THREE SUPERPOWERS!’  Watch the BBC Earth video narrated by David Attenborough and you will be amazed.

If you haven’t taken advantage of God’s provision for you, pray this prayer with me, knowing that ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’  Romans 10:13.

Dear Jesus, you are the Son of God.  You died for me.  For my sins, in my place.  Come into my life, forgive me, and make me new.  And from this day forward with your help, I’m all yours.  In your name I pray.  Amen.
