KEEP MOVING!

‘Shark’ photo by Gerald Schombs on Upsplash.

The OMINIOUS great white shark can weigh more than 5000 pounds!!!

Did you know that it can never stop moving?  It is part of a species known as ‘obligate ram- ventilators’.  If it stops moving, water will not be forced into its gills, and it will die!

What a lesson for us!  In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

Thank God, that is God’s plan for us.  The scripture tells us, if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.’ James 4:8. And just how near can we get?  As close as you want!  You draw near, He draws near.  The distance we can move toward Him is, I believe, infinite!!

What are you doing every day to ‘move’ closer to Him?

Have you heard Him calling? Have you answered the door, asked Him to come in?  He said, ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me.’ Revelation 3:20.  Come on, move, get out of your chair and answer the door.  This is the first step forward!  Look what He promised, fellowship with Him!  And not just an occasional conversation, but dinner!  His greatest desire for us is to return us to the ‘Garden’ where Adam and Eve heard His voice and had fellowship with Him.  He was with them always, every day and all the time.  He was constantly involved in every detail of their lives.  And that’s the relationship He wants with us!

Did you know that the ‘word of God’ (The bible) and Jesus are one and the same.  To know the word is to know Him. ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.’ John 1:1,2,14.  We know in this text that ‘The word became flesh’ refers to Jesus Christ.  Are you reading ‘the word’ to get to know Him?

Are you taking time for Him?  You can’t get to know someone without spending time with them.

According to Philippians 1:16, we can be confident that ‘He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.’ Are you cooperating with Him?
‘Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.’
Philippians 3:13-14.

Are you straining for the prize?  Which of course is Him.

Carrie Underwood won a Grammy award for this song; ‘Jesus, take the wheel.  Take it frorm my hands. Cause I can’t do this on my own.  I’m letting go.  So give me one more chance.  And save me from this road I’m on.  Jesus take the wheel.’

You can drive the car, but let Jesus take you where He wants you to go.  You were never meant to do it on your own.  The abundant life He plans for you is worth letting Him take the wheel.  He will keep you moving forward and promises abundant life, not death.  John 10:10. Keep moving like the shark, your life depends on it!

  1. In order to keep moving forward, I always say, “if you can’t find the door that God has opened, look for the window instead!”
