Matador Bug is nicknamed, ‘Fancy Pants’!!!! (Look at the photo above.)
It has bright red, flag-like shapes on its hind feet! I think it’s proud of them! If you approach this fascinating bug, it will lift both hind legs and twirl them around to create a flag waving display. You will think it’s waving at you, saying, ‘Hey! Here I am!’ Actually, biologists believe this behavior is a defense mechanism to warn potential predators that it is toxic. The red waving flags saying, ‘I am not the bug for you!’ They are indeed toxic because they feed on the stems of the Passionflower whose sap is toxic. Believe it or not, if all else fails, the Matador can shear off its hind leg or legs to protect its most precious body parts. It speaks to the would-be predator, ‘Take my leg, not my head!’ You have to travel to the rainforests of Mexico, Central or South America to say hello to one of them!!!

Their flag waving reminded me of the ‘good ole boys’ who attach American flags to their cars or trucks driving around using the flag to show a ‘deep love or support for the United States!’ (See photo above). Don’t you love them???
There are others who share their love of our country in song!
Do you remember the song written by Lee Greenwood released in 1984, entitled,
‘God Bless the USA’?
I’d thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can’t take that away
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the USA
What do you do to show your love for this country? I hope at minimum you pray!
The scriptures ‘urge us’ to do so!
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This is good and pleases God our Savior. 1 Timothy 2:1-3.
This paragraph written by Dr. Philip Miller from Moody Church Media says it all!
‘The reality is that life in America has been a tremendous blessing. The freedom to build a life, raise a family, worship God, and live out my faith—that’s a huge privilege, and one many people in this world don’t experience. America has her scars and problems to be sure, but on the whole, I feel like I won the global lottery when I woke up as a US citizen.’
LIKE THE MATADOR BUG, PROUDLY WAVE YOUR FLAG,
YOU ALSO WON THE GLOBAL LOTTERY!!!
Wonderful encouragement
