LET GO AND LET GOD!

Don’t you hate it when you try to do something good and it backfires!  We are only human!  Thank God we serve a God who doesn’t make mistakes, whose good intentions don’t backfire.
Are you one of those people who saw a butterfly trying desperately to release itself from its cocoon and you decided to help it?  You are thinking, now here is a good thing that I can do and the result will be another beautiful butterfly in the world!  The problem is, God designed the butterfly to need the struggle to force fluid from its body into its wings which strengthens them for flight.  If you decide to help free the butterfly, you are crippling it, preventing its ability to fly and ultimately leading to its death!!!  How awful is that!

God had a plan for the butterfly to struggle for its own good and He has the same plan for you! If you want to ‘fly’ in life, you will have to go through some struggles of your own!

It seems crazy, but the scriptures make it clear that we are supposed to ‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.’  James 1:2-4.  It may seem crazy, but look at the end product of your struggles (trials).  Maturity, completion, not lacking anything!!!

‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’  John 16:33.

And, He will comfort you in your troubles.  There is also a side benefit that is beautiful to think about.  ‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

The butterfly also raises a question.  When is it our place to interfere in someone else’s life when they are in trouble?  If we are not careful, our good intentions could interrupt what God is already doing in that person’s life and cause that person irreversible damage and they will never be able to fly!  The answer is prayer!  Join with God the Father and be certain you know what it is He wants you to do before you boldly and without knowledge begin to help them break out of their cocoon!

My wife and I learned the hard way!  We had a son that was extremely rebellious.  I believed it was my job to teach him to obey.  After all, if he can’t learn to obey me whom he can see, how will he ever learn to obey God whom he cannot see. !  We tried everything to help him.  Finally, we simply released him to God!  He had a plan all along.  My son turned his life around!
